It’s just a “labor of love,” or so says Matt Wardlaw and Pat the Producer, referring to their (and our) love of spreading the contagious commotion we call local music. August 29, 2011 marked not only one of the most exciting interviews to date, but also the 100th fan on their Facebook Inner Sanctum fan page, which apparently was the cause of some hair growth for Matt and the abandonment of whiskey for Pat. What did Jim give up again? The guys joined us in studio to not only reveal the ending of their previous show, but also the beginning of their new gig on the “other end of the dial.”

Along with some great dinosaur jokes, the guys also brought some exclusive Inner Sanctum favorites new to NEO Rocks including Ruin Us by The Jellybricks and some live tracks by Leah Lou and Roosevelt.

Pat and Matt gave us a glimpse into their younger days and how they began their careers as Local Music Gods. Back then, the Cleveland music scene was a lot different than it is now, and with the help of Pat, Matt and Jim, the local artists were pushed to create heightened recordings because, well, your parent’s basement doesn’t count as a recording studio.

Matt and I also conversed about the ability of local DJs to showcase so many different genres of music within the local scene. Not many of us can say we can play Jazz and Rap in the same show.

Just before they left, the guys pitched their idea of creating a “Crosby, Stills and Nash” of the local scene. Who will this include you ask? None other than Rob Duskey, Jason Patrick Meyers.com and Joshua Jesty.

Now that the Inner Sanctum and NEO Rocks crew are allies, expect great things.

The guys certainly know how to push buttons.  They toe the line during this interview.  If you are interested in adopting Lorain, their newest rescued stray cat, get in contact with them through their website http://www.burningdownbroadway.com

UPDATE:

Lorain has found a home!

“…it’s all in the eye of the belistener.”

Chris Bassett (lead vocals), Jesea Lee (guitar/back vocals), David Vallo (guitar), Justin Albaugh (bass) and Sean Manos (drums) (also known as a white, short version of Shrek with a really cool Batman shirt) of local Cleveland band, One Days Notice, stopped by to hang out with Eric and I on NEORocks! on January 24th.

The guys of ODN stopped by the WJCU stations in their “crazy stalker band van” (that they once rescued a dog in) to talk about their new EP, “That’s What She Said” (which can be found on iTunes and Rhapsody) and to chat about our mutual love of Pokemon cards and some of their recent and upcoming shows.

ODN has been all over—from Warped Tour last summer to upcoming shows at The Outpost in Kent and Peabody’s downtown—they just keep getting bigger and better! Most importantly, ODN will be playing at our 1st annual Radiothon concert on Feb 27th at the Happy Dog! We were going to tell you earlier, but they blew our cover!

The rumor going around was that these guys met in a Transformers chat room online, but we later found out this wasn’t true! In addition, I think ODN got the running award for most phone calls during an interview!

We had a ton of fun listening to ODN’s crazy stories, wish them the best of luck at their upcoming shows and can’t wait till they play at our WJCU Radiothon Benefit Concert!

In the words of ODN… “find our sexy faces and delicious music” on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/One-Days-Notice/225690487782?v=app_178091127385 or Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/odnband.

“Bonjour, Bonjour!”

…straight from the mouths of Jeremy (lead vocals/guitar), Mike (back vocals/guitar), Kevin(bass) and Alex (drums) when they stopped by to visit NeoRocks! on January 17th to let us in on what’s new in the world of local Cleveland band, Stella Park.

From the minute the guys walked in the door, you could just sense the excitement and enthusiasm they brought along with them.

Stella Park began as a duo and, after a lot of Craigslist searching, became a foursome (is that even a word)?Although the guys have only been together for 2 years or so, they have come quite a far way in that short length of time. Not only have they played several shows, but they are also on their way to recording a full length, 10 track album! (so look out for that one soon!)

The guys say that most of the songs they play at their shows, including “Heartbreak” and “My Disaster”, which can also be heard normally on NEORocks!, are going to be on the album, just a bit more “amped up”.

Eric and I had a great time laughing and joking with the guys throughout the show and are very excited for them and the big news they just recently received. It seems the guys have reached the big time dream of every unsigned band…you guessed it…they’ve been signed!

We toss a big thanks out to the guys of Stella Park for stopping by and having some fun with us! We wish them the best of luck in their upcoming work!

Take a listen to the podcast of the show with Stella Park below and visit their Facebook:
