It’s just a “labor of love,” or so says Matt Wardlaw and Pat the Producer, referring to their (and our) love of spreading the contagious commotion we call local music. August 29, 2011 marked not only one of the most exciting interviews to date, but also the 100th fan on their Facebook Inner Sanctum fan page, which apparently was the cause of some hair growth for Matt and the abandonment of whiskey for Pat. What did Jim give up again? The guys joined us in studio to not only reveal the ending of their previous show, but also the beginning of their new gig on the “other end of the dial.”
Along with some great dinosaur jokes, the guys also brought some exclusive Inner Sanctum favorites new to NEO Rocks including Ruin Us by The Jellybricks and some live tracks by Leah Lou and Roosevelt.
Pat and Matt gave us a glimpse into their younger days and how they began their careers as Local Music Gods. Back then, the Cleveland music scene was a lot different than it is now, and with the help of Pat, Matt and Jim, the local artists were pushed to create heightened recordings because, well, your parent’s basement doesn’t count as a recording studio.
Matt and I also conversed about the ability of local DJs to showcase so many different genres of music within the local scene. Not many of us can say we can play Jazz and Rap in the same show.
Just before they left, the guys pitched their idea of creating a “Crosby, Stills and Nash” of the local scene. Who will this include you ask? None other than Rob Duskey, Jason Patrick Meyers.com and Joshua Jesty.
Now that the Inner Sanctum and NEO Rocks crew are allies, expect great things.
